Bev Walton-Porter has had hundreds of pieces published since she became a full-time writer and editor in May 1997.
Her first piece was published in 1982 before the age of 18. Writing as Bev Walton-Porter and Star Ferris, she has extensive publishing experience in both non-fiction and fiction articles, features and books. She is editor/publisher of the award-winning e-zine, Scribe & Quill, and has been a professional writing instructor and coach for over 12 years.
Her section on online promotion appears in Writer's Online Marketplace: How & Where to Get Published Online (Writer's Digest Books), edited by Debbie Ridpath Ohi. She is also featured in Going Solo: How to Survive and Thrive as a Freelancer by Bobbi Linkemer. Her nonfiction writing reference book, Sun Signs for Writers (Writer's Digest Books), was published in August 2006. Mending Fences (Whiskey Creek Press), a contemporary romance, was published under the pen name of Star Ferris in September 2006. Her latest book, Hidden Fire, was published by Whiskey Creek Press in June 2009. Bev is also a co-author of The Complete Writer: A Guide To Tapping Your Full Potential (Red Engine Press, 2005).
She lives with her family (Paul, Jonathan, Brittany), a dog (Cosmo), a ringnecked white dove (Harley) and three cats (Isis, Osiris, Lucy) in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. A confirmed workaholic who is nocturnal by nature, she keeps vampire's hours and finds the call of the Muse in the dark of night. Her favorite authors are Stephen King & Neil Gaiman. Bev enjoys reading, cinema, music, World of Warcraft (Alliance!), counted cross-stitch and camping/exploring with her awesome husband and amazing children.
